Yep, 5 stars. A bizarrely funny movie. Way funnier than most comedies I've seen over the past 5-10 years. That comedic value plus the amazingly personal (and dangerous) footage captured is hard to beat.

I love film festivals too, so much good cinema, so little time.

I agree, 4 movies seems to be the sweet spot for me, otherwise I can't really recall which bit belonged to each movie that day. Only once tried going in a rush to six movies, and ended up watching the last two with sunglasses; my eyes would hurt otherwise!

I'm really enjoing this series of posts, please keep them coming.

I should mention that I grew up watching the Smurfs. I have no illusions that the cartoon was a hidden gem, but this movie takes every bad thing about the cartoon and then adds about 100 of its own new terrible things to make a painful, not even close to even tolerable movie.

Very honest review and I'm glad you enjoyed a peek into my life. Jay Cheel is the real star of this movie for he took my fart and made art.
Your writing is concise yet verbiculite and doesn't give too much away, which is pretty right-on!
It's Way Late by the way, the movie was released in June of 2011...HA!

I saw this one on TV a while ago, and I imagined Tommy Gunn was actually a young Tim Gunn, and the events of the movie made him change careers.

Yep. Saw it about 10 years after the fact and didn't like it much at all. I think some movies are ruined if you don't see them close to the time they came out.

I did see both. Enjoyed both quite a bit. Ip Man 2 reminded me of a Rocky film, which is generally a good thing.

I like this movie maybe a little bit more and have recommended it to others that have liked it. I probably would have rated it a 3.5. Probably more because it's a good clean family movie with christian values and there are few of those. Although I think the Sherwood church movies are helping show Hollywood its possible.

Have you watched Ip Man and Ip Man 2? If not you should. I loved them. Which doesn't exactly offer you any hope I realize.
